What a view to wake up to!
The kids were able to get their bikes out and ride while we were making breakfast. The hills were pretty steep so daddy got stuck helping with the bike riders. While out riding they came across some cute desert creatures. Jayen was all boy and couldn't get enough of the little lizards. I'm pretty sure he loved it and squeezed it a little too much.
Brilyn had a little gentler touch!
Eventually the sun came out and we were able to do the second thing we have all been talking about and waiting to do; take the boat out on the water! We packed a lunch and headed for the water. The boys, minus Jayen, went out first to scope out a good spot to eat and play. They took their sweet time finding a perfect spot. The girls started getting a little worried. Eventually Matt came back and picked us up. They did find a really good spot so we forgave them for deserting us! We spent all of the afternoon out on the lake. The water was freezing cold, but that didn't seem to bother Jayen at all. He was the only one swimming and refused to get out. Since it was so cold we really didn't do any tubing or skiing so there was one trip out for a boat ride with a group of kids. When they returned the bigger boys went on a hike up the mountain and couldn't all get back down. Jason had to go up and save one of them. They made it back down the hill just in time to start packing up and heading back in for dinner. The girls were dropped off at the shore; without keys and some very tired and crabby kids. The boys decided to joy ride instead of heading back in like they said they were going to. Almost an hour later they finally showed up. This mommy had plenty of words for daddy, and none that should be said around the kids! After speaking my peace, we headed back for campfire pizza and s'mores. It was a great day with great friends. Allissa said the weather made it feel like camping in Nebraska. Hopefully tonight will be a little warmer though!
