About Me

On March 21st, 2010 My daddy left for his last trip away from us. On March 22nd we had to ask him to come home. I had my first seizure that day. One month later I was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms. I have been through a lot in my short life. But I bring so much joy to my mommy and daddy every time I smile.

Double Egg Hunts

Buddy baseball was moved to this morning so the kids could participate in an Easter egg hunt after their game. The teams warmed up and were able to play a full inning then have a home run derby before time ran out.
.

The kids patiently waited outside the field while eggs were dropped to cover the entire baseball field.

Conor and Mandi were ready!

Jayen, Eddie and Dominic were ready!

Brilyn was showing Hannah, Haleigh, Ava and Gavin the ones she was claiming!

And they were off. He needed no assistance this year!

But of course, Jayen wanted nothing to do with the Easter bunny. I couldn't even get him close enough for a picture.
We all had so much fun and can't thank the City of Surprise adaptive recreation program for putting this on every year. We are so grateful to be able to take Jayen to an egg hunt where he can be successful and comfortable.
We had to leave immediately after baseball to head to our friends, the Stutzers, house. They were hosting an Easter brunch and egg hunt as well.
There was so much food and fun. Jamie even had fun games planned for the kids. They all participated in the egg race and had to walk with an egg on a spoon. Although this was super tricky for Jayen, he tried and had fun! After an hour or so, the dads left to see if the Easter bunny needed help at the park. He had to hide two dozen eggs for each child. I think he needed some help! A little while later, the moms got word that the bunny was ready for some finders. Jamie had all the kids line up, took pictures and explained the rules the Easter bunny left for her. She even told the kids about some special eggs called cascarones. If they found one of these special eggs with paper on top, they could grab that egg and crack it on anyone's head.

Look at that crowd of kids. So much fun!

Well, in all of the excitement I didn't even think to talk to Jayen about these eggs. Of course, who would be the first one to get hit on the head? Yep, a full blown meltdown occurred less than two minutes into the egg hunt. A little boy, about Jayen's age, found one and hit the firrst person he saw on the head and confetti went everywhere. Jayen could not understand why someone would hit him and why he was covered in confetti. Matt and I tried talking to him but there was no consoling him. Eventually we took him to the car to give him a calming environment. I went to talk to him again after nearly 15 minutes but he was still upset. I wanted him to be able to sit with the other kids and enjoy his candy while also reassuring him that it wouldn't happen again and everyone is fine. I was able to confiscate one CascarĂ³n and after much convincing, dad helped Jayen crack one on my head. He still wasn't convinced this was fun! But he did it and was able to sit down with friends and enjoy the rest of the day.

These cute girls! Ellie, Brilyn, Marley, and Brooklyn found enough sweets.

All the moms! I'm so fortunate to have met so many wonderful ladies.

All the dads!
After the party, Jamie and Billy invited us to stay and play. It didn't take much convincing for the kids. Brilyn and Ellie were off putting on make-up before we could say yes. The boys were just as excited when Rylen asked if they wanted to go swimming. Matt and I were able to have adult conversations and drinks as well. It was such a fun day.

It's a good thing we live right down the street because we all wanted to join Brilyn by the end of the day! Such a fun filled day with friends!
